China.org.cn: What are the important points in the Chinese version of the criteria of professional engineer in automotive engineering that impress you most and what rouses the mutual recognition between the China’s standards and the global standards?

Chris Mason:Well it’s really important for us to work with China SAE and to really understand the content of the standard that’s been created that we’ve been working in these past few years, and what impressed us was the fact that this appealed to a broad spectrum of engineers, from the early years student engineers to the mature senior engineers, so we had the opportunity to consider the different types of engineering level for the different types of engineers throughout their career as we look to work with China SAE to adopt and to kind of translate that standard into something that will be deliverable around the world, and that’s in fact what we’ve launched today ,so 12 members have signed up to work on this program, and I think they liked about it the fact that it appeals to a broad spectrum engineers throughout their career journey, from a student engineer joining the industry to a senior experienced professional they can all sign up for this program and get the international recognition of FET.

China.org.cn: How to promote the next step?

Chris Mason:We’ve had a wonderful time here in Shanghai launching the FET International Engineer with our good friends and colleagues from China SAE, and now we go back to working hard and creating the important infrastructure or the program to work not just here in China but for the international colleagues all around the world, and most important here is the engineers that’s signed up to the program will be here in China or another FET member state, all of them will go to a central register for us to identify workplace-ready engineers, wherever they may come from the world and wherever they may choose to work in the world, so we’ll be working for the next 2 or 3 months to bring that together for the whole program goes live in Q1 2020.
