China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared that the ruling rendered on 12 July 2016 by the Arbitral Tribunal in the South China Sea arbitration, established at the unilateral request of the Philippines, is null and void and has no binding force. China neither accepts nor recognizes it, the ministry added.
Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that the South China Sea Islands have been China’ territory since ancient times, the Chinese Government reiterated its position of non-acceptance and non-participation.
By not accepting or recognizing the so-called "award", China is in fact safeguarding the international law, said Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
According to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the arbitration is a political farce under the pretext of law.
China, and all Chinese people do not accept or particaipate in (the arbitration), and do not recognize the so-called “award”, the award is null and void and has no binding force.
China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea shall under no circumstances be affected by those awards
